Moved to Aveiro from UK 57189

I've had a look at the forum and I am not seeing an events calendar. Where are the 501st event sign ups? I noticed that there is a Comic Con soon in Portugal, does the 501st have a presence there?

Hello Simon. Welcome to Portugal. I live in Algarve, but I have roots in the region where you are now living. Regarding your questions, I believe that once your transfer process is completed, you will have access to all areas of the forum, including the section where we share events.

As for Comic Con, although it has happened in the past, in recent years our participation hasn't materialized.

If you need any help, let us know, and don't overindulge in "ovos moles"!

Most of our members are either located in the Lisbon or Porto area. Porto is closer to Aveiro, about 45 minutes to an hour by car, while Lisbon is about a 2 hours and half drive.

About Comic Con, and adding to Mário's words, the convention has been losing a lot of quality in the past years and their communication has been way too faulty. Although we would like to be present, the lack of communication draw us away each year. We attended the con since day one, we even had the UK, Luxembourg and the Spanish garrison as our guests, but the con made bad decisions as moving the location from indoor to outdoor, changing it from up the north to Lisbon, amongst other things not worth mentioning right now. We supported the con since day one but they kinda pushed us aside... The same with some big collectible stores and fan groups.

The conventions in Portugal, aside from "Comic Con Portugal", are still a bit amateur but I believe it's our job to help them grow, aside there's always room to makes us known to the public. The public knows almost everyone loves to dress up as Star Wars characters but don't know the Legion and our charitable side.

So, look around, meet the members, feel free to give any feedback to improve the Garrison and I hope we can meet up in the near future during an event.

Thanks for the replies. I'm sure I'll meet you both at events as I'm keen to travel. Shame about comic con. It's similar to what happened in the UK. The best con of the year in the UK now is Megacon in London and Birmingham. I'll have a look at some events and will bring some imperial order to them very soon.
